The Welcome:

“Good afternoon family and friends, to this magnificent venue, on this beautiful day. Thank you for making the journey here, with the intent to witness the marriage between these two people. Today is a celebration. A celebration of love, of commitment, of friendship, of family, and of two people who are in it for forever. The happy couple would like to extend a special thank you to those who have travelled from overseas to attend.

A Wedding ceremony is such a special and sacred time, and what X and X really want from today is for you to be in the moment. Be completely present and enjoy the Ceremony. Please get some snaps of their entrance, but after that, if you have a camera or mobile phone, please switch it off and store it in your bag or pocket before the ceremony gets underway. There is an amazing photographer here today to capture all the good stuff.

Upon arriving here today, you have been given some confetti. Please hold onto this during the ceremony and toss up in the air at the conclusion of the ceremony, to congratulate our beautiful couple as they depart.”

Words about the marriage where the couple wish to acknowledge the joining of two cultures:

“At its heart, a Wedding is a celebration of two families coming together. Today you enter as individuals, but you will leave here as a married couple, blending your family ties, traditions, and culture. You are now embarking upon the finest adventure of human interaction. The story of your life together is unwritten and yours to write.”

Words about the marriage where the couple are both marrying for the second time and both have children from their previous marriage:

“We have all experienced love in our life. Love is the greatest unifier and the most precious part of humanity. Here, today we are reminded of this. A love story may be very short, very long, it may still be unwritten. X and X’s story began later in life, and happily joining them today, to be lovingly embraced in a new-found family unit, are X’s children and X’s son. Today it is not just the happy couple committing to each other, they are committing to an exciting life full of adventure with all their children.”

A giving away:where the bride does not wish to be given away but would like both parents to affirm their blessings on the marriage:

“Today X and X have decided not to be given away, but rather give themselves wholly and without uncertainty to one another. They would, however like for their parents to affirm their blessings of this marriage”

A giving away: where couple has asked for a community vow of support instead of a giving away.

“Rather than the slightly outdated tradition of a father giving his daughter away, I would like to ask everyone here today for their blessing. Family and friends, are you all willing now and always, to nurture this marriage by upholding X and X with your continued love and support?”

The Asking Example #1

“Will you, X keep X as your favourite person - to laugh with them, go on adventures with them, support them through life’s tough moments, be proud of them, grow old with them, and find new reasons to love them every day?”

The Asking Example #2

“Will you, X keep X as your friend, your lover and your rock - to enjoy life’s adventures with them, smash goals together, ride life’s highs and lows together, and be committed to not just loving them, but working as a team with them?”

Personalised Vows Example #1

“X, you always know how to make me feel special. Every day of our life you continue to surprise me and delight me in both the smallest and grandest of ways. I promise to always be grateful for your love, generosity and kindness. I have no doubt that it is because of you that I have become a braver, happier, more hopeful person. I promise to always show courage when times are tough and to share in your joy when life brings happy surprises.”

Personalised Vows Example #2

“X, I can’t promise that your every wish will be granted, but I can promise to never take you for granted. I can’t promise I won’t steal the comforter at night, but I can promise to always be your source of comfort in tough times. I can’t promise to be a Collingwood supporter, but I can promise to always support you and your dreams.”

Ring exchange where both parties will wear a ring:

“You’ve both chosen to wear rings as a reminder of these promises. As you look at these rings over the years, I hope you remember this: together you’ve created something invaluable, and just as I know you’ll protect these rings, I’m confident you’ll protect the commitments you’ve made to one another today”.

Ring exchange where only one party will be receiving a ring, so the other party will 'accept' the ring placed on their finger:

“X, X would like to place this ring on your finger as a daily reminder of their love and commitment to you and your marriage together. Just as this ring is round and without an end, X promises their never-ending love to you. With this ring do you accept X’s love, support, and commitment, and promise the same in return?”

Presentation of the couple Example #1

“As you start your next big adventure today, I would like you to take a moment to reflect on this new journey. In some ways today is no different to yesterday, nor tomorrow. It is, however, the start of your married life together, and will be a day that you cherish and celebrate every year for the rest of your days. Today is a celebration with all of your closest friends and family, who will also play a part in this journey. It is my absolute pleasure to pronounce you married, you may seal your marriage with a kiss!”

Presentation of the couple Example #2

“Today is about the love and dedication that has brought you to this point, and it is about the hope and joy that stretches into your future together. A beautiful future with your best friend by your side. An exciting future of new ventures, new places to explore, and endless dreams to realise. Embrace this life together and make it the amazing experience we all know it will be. It is my absolute pleasure to pronounce you married, you may seal your promise with a kiss!”
